Scholarships & Contests

START PLANNING NOW!

Scholarships are awards of money that do not have to be repaid. Typically, scholarships are awarded based on students’ academic achievements, leadership, community service, financial need, and/or written/oral communication.

A group of nearly 20 senior students pose with certificates for their scholarship awards.

ATTENTION SENIORS

The scholarship information on this page will be updated each school year. This is only a fraction of the scholarships available to students. Most scholarship money is awarded from the college you will attend. Check the financial aid link on college websites for information on academic, departmental, and other scholarships specific to each school. Many scholarship deadlines fall before college application deadlines, so apply early! It is the responsibility of each student to request and complete any available scholarship applications.

DISCLAIMER OF ENDORSEMENT: Scholarships are listed for the user’s convenience only. The JHS Counseling Department does not endorse any of these scholarships or contests except for the Joplin Schools scholarships. We caution students and parents to be aware that personal information submitted on the paper applications or over the Internet has no guarantee of privacy. Read each website’s privacy statement before submitting any personal information, including your email address. It is important for every applicant to research all pertinent information regarding the scholarship application and requirements in this file or on the scholarship sponsor’s website.
