Joplin High School and Franklin Technology Center provide activities for students in a wholesome, healthy, environment. Participation in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities provides students with opportunities that cannot be duplicated in the classroom experience. Educational research has demonstrated repeatedly that a high correlation exists between participation in activities and academic achievement.
Extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, clubs, and organizations seek to develop leadership abilities as well as the mental, physical, social, emotional and moral well being of student participants. Excellent extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, clubs, and organizations promote school spirit and loyalty in addition to preparing youth to make a positive contribution to their society.
Both JHS and FTC offer a wide variety of clubs and organizations to appeal to the different interests of students. It is our goal that every student at Joplin High School belongs to at least one club or organization that allows him/her to express their interests while at school. In addition, it is our expectation that every student belongs to at least one club or organization that will allow him/her an opportunity to explore a career aspiration for life after high school, or to help further the student’s education.
