English Department
Four units of credit in English, one of which may be speech or debate, and two units emphasizing composition or writing skills are required for graduation from the Joplin School District for the class of 2010 and beyond.
The English Department consists of fifteen instructors. Classes offered include Academics Plus, English I through IV, Humanities Literature, Journalism, Newspaper, and Yearbook. For the college-bound student, we offer a wide array of Advance Placement, dual credit, and college preparatory classes. The Advanced Placement class is English Language and Composition and English Literature and Composition. Dual Credit offerings are English Composition I & II. Our college preparatory offerings are English I and II Pre-AP and English III & IV CP.
